19th June is UN International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict
Watch the full video of the recent backbench debate on the UK’s Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict Initiative in the House of Commons.
This week, a backbench debate was held on the Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict Initiative, led by the Chair of the APPG on PSVI, Anthony Mangnall. The UK has shown great leadership in focusing on Gender Based Violence.
But we must do more. The resurgence of multilateralism offers us the chance to create a new organisation that:
- Brings perpetrators of sexual violence in conflict to justice
- Supports survivors
- Documents evidence
“It is not just the absence of conflict that denotes peace but the presence of justice.”
Rape as a weapon of war can become a thing of the past. The UK should play its part.
